Came here for dinner on a weekday with coworkers, wasn't too busy. Got basically a chucercurie starter which had a bunch of different items in it, including burrata and various meats. Bread and olives came on the table as well, bread was quite chewy and fresh. For my main, I got the Tomasa without sour cream, and while the pizza was huge, the crust was thin. The center got soggy though so I wasn't too big a fan of it. The flavors on the pizza were okay, and I asked for chili oil which wasn't too spicy and didn't have much flavor either. For dessert, I got the tiramisu which was quite tasty but had too much cream. The actual cake part was moist and tasty, really liked that part. Service was meh, was a bit difficult to ask for items but to be fair, she had quite a big crowd to serve.

Was kam, waren "falsche" schwarze Oliven. Insoweit kommt man auch auf der Speisekarte der Kennzeichnungspflicht nicht nach. Touristennepp, nichts anderes, leider. Da kann man bei den 12 Aposteln vom Glauben abfallen.

The raves about the pizza make me regret that I just tried this place for breakfast before heading off to Potsdam for a day trip. It's right outside the entrance to the Sauvignyplatz train station, so obviously it's a really convenient place to eat breakfast if you're staying in the Charlottenburg area. I'm not sure where the twelve apostles come into play because I don't recall having any religious experience while dining here, but they definitely serve decent food if you're in a hurry to get on the S-Bahn.
Most eat al fresco in the morning as the commuters scurry by them, but I took a seat inside next to the window. They offer several omelets on their breakfast menu, and I landed on the 7.50-Euro Calzione Contadina with bacon, onion, potatoes and lots of butter in what looked to be at least a three-egg concoction with sliced tomatoes and cornichons on the side (see photo). Hearty stuff at the beginning of a tour day. A big cup of Cappuccino for 3 Euros nicely complemented the meal (see photo). Service was a bit scattered, but I'd come back if only to try the pizza.
FOOD - 3 stars...hungry-man omelets not big on freshness
AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...Italianate with dark woods
SERVICE -3 stars...with a smile but like I said, scattered
TOTAL - 3 stars...convenient stop for the Charlottenburgermeister on the goHelpful 9Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Esmeralda P.Bryssel, Belgien427829025 jan. 2015
During my stay in Berlin I discovered this Italian restaurant near Savigny Platzt
when you enter the place you feel like being in the 18th century. very nicely decorated .
Famously known for their stone oven pizza (you see them on every table) they also do other nice main dishes.
i've tried the Dorade and you could taste the freshness, was really happy. we returned 2 days after to try the pizza and had the PAOLO (huge thing!) was good - but preferred from far the dorade
definitely a place to return and to adviceHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Claire S.Bezirk Neukölln, Berlin, Tyskland6126 aug. 2019

12 Apostel is becoming a bit of a Berlin institution. They're famous for their pizzas, and their Sunday brunch when these can be had for about 7 euros.
1. The Food
Very good pizzas, big enough to share. They are pies with nice thin chewy Napolitan-style crusts. The sauce is tangy and bright. The toppings are usually quite fresh. Their prosciutto is of good quality. They also have a nice menu of pastas and antipasti, most of which we've tried are decent. The wine list is heavy on the Italians, with some nice by-the-glass reds and whites. Avoid the cocktails.
2. The Staff
Too often a big minus point! We've had a rather nasty experience with one waiter who took forever to take our order, brought the wrong food and reluctantly acknowledged this, and then made us wait another 20 minutes before the food finally made it to our table, and finally couldn't wait to kick us out. It was one of the worst dining experiences of my life.
3. The Atmosphere
Mixed crowd, busy, can be romantic in summer. Nicely renovated building with patio in the courtyard, perfect in summer.
4. The Damage
Most pizzas are around 12 euros. Drinks are 2-10.
5. Useful Tidbits
Make a reservation. Try not to sit on the covered patio in the winter, if you take too long they'll hover unpleasantly over you until you leave.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rick B.London, Storbritannien93028514 mars 2014
Menu looked interesting.
Ambience seemed fine.
Being told "Cash only" by Maitre d' on arrival at mid-market place in leafy Savignyplatz = Abort :-(
If restaurant can't be bothered to accept card payments, I can't be bothered with them! Cash is so 20th century and/or for low value transactions .... and the latter hopefully not for much longer as Contactless rolls out ....Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Anette A.Köpenhamn, Danmark52927228 juni 2013
Everytime I'm in Berlin I have to go to this specific 12 Apostel restaurant. The serivce is amazing - and very italian! If the sun is out, it's there all day! And you can be seated outside, it's in a small street close to the S-bahn - and so it's also a good spot for people watching ;)
The brunch on Sundays is amazing - a huge selection. The rest of the week - they "just" have a great selection of different plates.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nicole R.Amsterdam, Nederländerna32922 juli 2013
Good pizza in Berlin, it drives me crazy here that so many places advertise stone pizza oven, which I guess they literally do have but most of them are gas so mainly for show. 12 apostles has a real wood pizza oven, which made me like from the start! Service is good (very patient with my two year old, even brought her colored pencils). And although the pizza prices are a few euros more then other places close by they are seriously big! 1 pizza for two people is more then enough. I am sure a lot tourist make there way here but we were there on a Monday night and it was filled with locals.
Not sure what the woman below was complaining about not speaking English , as they have English menus and i think it is funny when tourist feel everyone should speak English, as far as I am concerned if people here do speak English it is a bonus (as my german is terrible) but I don't expect anyone to speak anything other than german to me!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Travelin- M.Santa Cruz, USA51963424 aug. 2011
Eversince my pizza favorite in Berlin!
I love to travel and as editor of a travel guide I try to eat out at as many different places as possible to discover new gems for my readers, but in this case I cannot resist! As soon I am arriving in Berlin I either reserve a table at Savignyplatz or Friedrichstrasse since I am addicted to their brick oven 12 Apostel Pizza coming with salmon, shrimps, and creme fraiche.
Both places are cozy and can get loud since people are running into their doors daily except between 3 and 5 pm (time after lunch and before dinner). The pizzas are huge and I recommend sharing one by two and if even necessary a starter as well.
The location at Savignyplatz is on the opposite of the S-Bahn arches along a small alley of shops and restaurants. During summer the pavilion is transformed into an outdoor patio covered by huge umbrellas. The second branch at Georgenstrasse is located in the S-Bahn arches of Friedrichstrasse close to Pergamon Museum.
Both places accept cash or German debit cards only. No credit cards!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
