Goldbrick have a great menu and drinks selection with fantastic bar staff that make a killer mojito.
Eaten here a couple of times and enjoyed a work Christmas dinner there but had a few issues when trying to book other corporate events which stops me from rating 5/5.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jack R.Bristol, Storbritannien7166918 dec. 2014
Overpriced mass catering - menu reads like fine dining but food and atmosphere is like school dinners.
Came here for Christmas lunch with work, the menu was £25 for 2 courses £30 for 3 courses. I went for duck leg and fig terrine and roast turkey both were dry and under seasoned and the veg was awful and measly too. No roast potatoes with the turkey just under seasoned gritty textured mash.
If I had ordered the same food at a weatherspoons for half the price I would have been disappointed.
I've heard good things about goldbricks a la carte menu but on the basis of their Christmas menu I wouldn't risk it.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Thom W.Bristol, Storbritannien337191120827 juni 2014
Wow wow WOW!
I went to Goldbrick House last night for one of their Fabulous Food Club events and I have to say, it was bloomin' awesome! Like seriously good!
They have a different event every month and this was the first I had been to. It was Tapas and Cava night which was a 4 course tapas menu with 4 different cava's. Each course had 4 dishes and they were by no means small dishes - this was BIG tapas!
I've added photos of the menu. I would write what was on the menu but 16 dishes and 4 different cava's is a bit excessive to type!
The head chef sat with the 11 of us at the table for the 3 HOURS and guided us through each course and each glass. Each course was based on a different region of Spain and had a drink to match. There wasn't one dish that I didn't like, in fact, I loved most of them. By course 3 I was would normally of stopped eating, but they brought out 4 delicious desserts that were impossible not to try.
This is one of the best value for money food events I have done. It was £27.50 - I know, right! I'm not sure if they are all priced the same. The next is a night of Champagne and Desserts, so I doubt it, but its definitely worth checking. I cant make the next, but I'll certainly be a regular at these from now on.
Goldbrick House isn't somewhere I'd normally choose for dinner, and I'm not sure I would still, but I'll be keeping an eye on these events every month.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Will P.Bristol, Storbritannien1145245419 sep. 2009
Goldbrick house is Bristol's overpriced classy cocktail bar par excellence. In the day time the street level bar is busy with various sorts with a bit of money to burn (and a couple of people like me who don't treat their wallet with enough respect). You'll probably see groups of women having a coffee, red faced business men lunching, amongst other types.
It's the upstairs and in the evenings where Goldbrick House comes into its own. It get rammed with who women in short cocktail dresses and men in slightly ridiculous cravats. I shouldn't sound quite so condescending. It's pretty sharp and sophisticated up here, and nice to go somewhere where people make an effort The staff whisk around the place, making high art of cocktail making (my friend Gareth is the most impressive, in my opinion).
It is easy to mock Goldbrick house, with its gold wallpaper and eye watering prices. However, it does pull off being a high end bar, worth a visit if you've got a few quid to spare.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Henry N.Bristol, Storbritannien240452228 okt. 2009
Why is it in this country that we have to pigeonhole everything? Have you ever walked into an eating establishment and asked for a drink, only to be told that they only serve food? Goldbrick House is a bit more versatile than that, combining a bar with a cafe and a restaurant. They're associated with high end champagnes and cocktails, though there's nothing to stop the likes of you and I nipping in for a pint too.
The interior, as you'd expect, is plush, with the downstairs taken up by tables for those eating, while the cocktail bar sits upstairs. You can even hire a private room, though obviously I've never done this. The food, I've noted in the past, is also surprisingly reasonable, with breakfasts and sandwiches at a fiver, and pasta main courses for less than £7. A touch of class at an affordable price in a handy location.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype-användare (ninja_…)Bristol, Storbritannien7653014 nov. 2008
First off, this place is not cheap. The food is costly and the cocktails will set you back some, so if you're the kind of person who gets immediately put off by that then this isn't the place for you. However, if you like amazing food, fantastic service and slightly too drinkable cocktails then Goldbrick House will soon be on your Best of Bristol list. It's luxurious, sophisticated good fun without any air of pompousness.
My night started off with a cocktail suggested to me by the barman as a slight variation on what I ordered and normally have. I haven't looked back since - MUCH nicer! The service was not only friendly but helpful and efficient.
The restaurant itself was busy and crowded but it wasn't to the extent that it affected my night. The food took my mind off everything else anyway and I had a beautifully cooked asparagus and poached egg starter followed by a divine risotto. It was by far the best meal I've had in Bristol.
All round brilliant restaurant. I've not tried the more relaxed cafe downstairs but it looks nice and comfortable and my friends rave about it. I doubt it will be long before I try it out for myself. I'd recommend that you do too.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rachel H.Bristol, Storbritannien6277516 juni 2010
A stylish, high end bar near the top of Park Street, Goldbrick House caters predominately to the young professional crowd and their penchant for after-office drinks. In order to price out the riff raff, of course it doesn't come cheap, but in return for your hard earned pennies Goldbrick House serves up good quality food and drink. Just make sure you earned those pennies first or it'll take the light from your eyes.
The decor imitates a vintage house and is quite imaginative. It's all very plush and opulent as these sort of places tend to be, presumably playing up to all the fantasies accountants et al have about the lifestyles their salaries will one day lead to.
There's a lively but civilised atmosphere and while it all looks a bit pretentious to me, Goldbrick house serves good food and drink in stylish surrounds so if you've got the cash and don't mind a small side order of snobbery then make sure you park yourself here on a Friday early evening.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Shaun W.Bristol, Storbritannien158611820 maj 2014
I've been here three times: twice upstairs and once in the cafe on the ground floor. This is a lovely place to hang out or take friends for a drink, and the cafe is a nice place to chat and feel cool when it's hot outside, as the front window opens fully.
Our food was very nice, and the staff go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. Our only complaint would be the lack of information about the wine. We all chose from the 'Divine' list, but none of our choices were particularly high-end.
We will go back for a cream tea soon and will report back!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jenni D.London, Storbritannien5159151020 dec. 2009
Having spent the last few years seeking out all the cheap and cheerful pubs and bars Bristol has to offer, I didn't have a clue where to take my Dad for a sophisticated 60th birthday drink. I scoured the net for a fun, classy and, gulp, pricey bar. Then I came across the Goldbrick House at the top of my beloved Park Street. The flash website, extensive drinks list and the promise they can "make any drink you ask for" was enough to ensure them two more punters that Saturday night.
The first thing I was struck by was just how lively and atmospheric the place was at just 5:30pm on a wet and windy afternoon - it was almost at the point of being TOO busy. The wooden-clad bar was full to the brim of suited and booted men and girls in the teeniest of tiny dresses. Maybe it's the ideal place if you're a city slicker looking for a dolled up lady - not so great for a quiet birthday cocktail with your dad.
The drinks, however, were just as I'd hoped : alcoholic to the point of lethal and presented with showmanship. I plumped for the exceptionally girlie looking Ruby Daiquiri, and Dad had a much manlier Spiced Brooklyn. For around £7 per drink, I'd say they were value for money on alcohol percentage alone! The only disappointment came when Dad asked for a Black Russian to be told that none of the bartenders knew how to make one, which ponders the question: why claim you can make any cocktail?
The Goldbrick House is the place to go to start off a night of drinking and debauchery - but it's not the place if you're looking for something special.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rebecca B.Bristol, Storbritannien17108110676 maj 2010
My friend held her hen party at Goldbrick House late last year, upstairs in the private hire room. My review is about this private space, which is completely separate from the public bar area.
We had two main rooms to celebrate in (and decorate!) as we wished: a spacious dining room with a large table to seat us all, and some extra space for dancing - plus a separate little lounge room with a sofa. We also had our own toilet, rather than having to go downstairs and use the same one as the punters at the bar, which was a bonus!
This upstairs room wouldn't be big enough for large parties, but for smaller gatherings it's perfect, with nice décor and lighting.
As part of the package we got room hire, a lovely meal and waiter service - then had a drinks tab on top. My only complaint is that when our bill arrived, it had been calculated incorrectly (by quite a significant amount!) - and although this was resolved, we did wonder whether perhaps us drunken hens were being taken advantage of...? Or perhaps it was just a genuine mistake. Nevertheless, it was a shame to end the evening on that note - but overall it didn't really detract from our evening's enjoyment.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
