I'm in Berlin often, and when there I try to make sure I have the opportunity to have dinner at Hangi. The small, under-designed establishment lacks the stylish flair which so many sushi spots bend over backwards to gain. What it lacks in flair, however, it makes up in excellent sushi.
Hangi's menu selection is traditional, but there's something for everyone. They take their soup very seriously and large portions of Misu can be ordered in a nicely sized bowl, both to take out or to eat in. Their sushi selection is similar to to what you may expect from other sushi establishments, the fish always tasty and the rice well packed.
If you're not sure what to order, try their Yakitori as an opener. From the sushi menu, their California Roll is outstanding, their salmon nigiri being especially good. Try their lemongrass tea on the side.
I'm a big sushi fan, but extremely picky about my Maki and have been known to return half-eaten pieces of Nigiri to the chef. This doesn't happen at Hangi - it seems they prepare their sushi with love and it shows.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Anula G.Berlin, Tyskland26274015 nov. 2015
Food is simple, always extremely fresh and super tasty. Everything is cheap. Owners are always very friendly and smile sincerely. The place is small and cosy. It's a perfect spot if you want to enjoy your sushi daily, not only on a special occasion.

Honestly speaking, in case you are a big fan of pickled ginger and Seetang Salat, this is probably the best place!! Woo..the spicy Seetang Salat is really remarkable and the portion is relatively bigger than other sushi place! Back to sushi, taste is really good for the price; I like their shitake and avocado Maki the most. There are plenty of choice for sushi as well in case you are a vegetarian! Drinks are pretty cheap there. They are very friendly, though we are always coming in like an hour before they close. We like this place a lot!

This is quite simply the best sushi restaurant I think I have ever been to. And if you're just talking about bare bones sushi, this is no exaggeration. They don't do fancy exotic improvised sushi here, but the fish always tastes fresh (never any fishy smell), and the rice is perfection. My boyfriend and I both can't think of when we've had better sushi, and we've both spent a lot of time in Vancouver (best place for sushi outside Japan).
We live just around the corner from Hangi and we get takeout from them at least three times /week. Which brings me to the other great feature of Hangi-- it is dirt cheap. If I have any doubt about whether Hangi is literally the best sushi I've ever had than I can easily say it's the cheapest.
My favourite order is Salmon, Tuna and White Tuna Nigiri. What can I say, if you like sushi, this is a place you have to try.
+ Open Sundays....!!
