So this guy in Cardiff was in the middle of getting with a sheep, and then asked me if I wanted any of his meal. I responded... "Meal? Any? Um....." The guy ignored me and continued his activity with the sheep, and so the name of this stadium was born.

I actually think Wales is a wonderful place, and Welsh people are fantastic (especially Ian Rush and the Manic Street Preeners), and this is one of the best stadiums not in Wales, not in the UK, not in Europe, but in the whole damn sheep loving world.

First-Hand Experience: Yelp asked me to include more information about my personal experience at this stadium, so here it is. The Millennium might be the best stadium I've visited, or been inside. I've been lucky enough to see both soccer and football at this place. I was here in 2004, 2011 and 2014. I have pictures.

I've been to virtually every significant stadium in the UK & US, due to a lifelong obsession with travel, sport & especially footy (soccer to Americans). Born and raised in England, I followed Oxford United (my hometown team) to many stadiums all over the country at away games, and later followed Liverpool (my fave team) around. Every stadium review - like all my reviews - are from personal experience at these stadiums from multiple visits. In 2011, I was on music tour in the UK, and visited these stadiums then, also. As recently as Fall 2014, when I was "stuck" in the UK for 3 months, I visited all of the stadiums as I travelled around the country. I have pictures of many of them which I will post in future. Also, when I'm back in the UK I plan to take more pictures, and add more stadiums too! So watch this space!

It's built on the river right next to the heart of Cardiff, built to host the 1999 World Cup of Rugby, it has a fully retractable roof, and reminds me of Houston's stadium in Texas. It Texas a long time to get the roof open or closed though.

No footy clubs play here, but they used to have cup finals and play off finals here, which were *much* better in the Millennium than they are at Wembley. Liverpool FC won the first and last FA Cup Finals played here, and they were two of the best cup finals of all time, beating Arsenal 2-1 with late Michael Owen goals, and then beating West Ham on penalties after Gerrard scored from 570,000 yards in the 99th minute.

The capacity is only 74k but it feels like a lot more. It reminds a little bit of the San Siro. The Manics, Bon Jovi, U2 and many more have played here.

You must see a game at this stadium if you ever get the chance. Much, much better than Wembley.

The Millennium Stadium is pretty much Cardiff's most famous landmark.

A 72,000 seater venue with the UK's first retractable roof slap bang in the middle of Cardiff city centre.

There isn't a venue like this - with it's ideal location - in the rest of Britain. And because Cardiff is a relatively small city when there is a big event on here it dominates the town so much so they shut the surrounding streets to cars.

If you are not from Cardiff and intend to visit then I would seriously urge you to coincide you visit with a major event happening here - preferably a Wales international rugby game (they also have lots of big bands play here) it will be the cherry on your cake and make the visit memorable.

There is nothing like an international rugby day in the Capital. The streets come alive with sound (horns and whistles a plenty) and colour.

The roads are turned red with a sea of Welsh rugby shirt wearing enthusiasts all smiling and laughing in the overflowing bars and restaurants. You'll see all manner of sights from people with their face painted to others in fancy dress all looking forward to watching their international boys take on the opposition inside a spectacular venue. It's truly a good natured family atmosphere - the closest Cardiff will ever come to a carnival in Rio.

For a list of events at the stadium visit the stadium website.

Would I recommend a stadium tour? What's the point? Its like sitting in an empty cinema with no film showing.

      Don't go when it's empty.

This fantastic venue, home to the UK's first fully retractable roof, not only hosts massive sporting events such as the Rugby World Cup, the FA Cup Finals, and motor sports events, but also huge music concerts from the likes of U2 and Madonna.

Apart from experiencing a Millennium New Year here that verged on disastrous (the bars were so busy everyone was left pretty much sober, and a little bit grumpy, which took the edge off the celebrations), I still love this venue. While its city centre location has proved controversial, personally I like the fact it's so central and think its ship-like structure is a beautiful Cardiff landmark.

I've never been to a sporting event here, and I'm unlikely to, but for concerts it is an excellent venue. The stadium has some 128 hospitality boxes, 22 bars, 7 places to eat, and 7 entry gates.

As a visitor or tourist, I'd say it's well worth taking a walk from Castle Street along the wooden walkway that sits above the edge of the river Taff to gain a fresh, waterside perspective on the stadium, away from the traffic of Westgate Street.

Note: I am reviewing the Millennium Stadium as a music venue only.

I'm really not sure how one goes about rating this place, but I'll give it an honest try. I have been to the stadium twice, and both times I went when it had been transformed into a music venue, so if you want a review of it as a sporting venue, I'm afraid someone else is going to have to oblige with a review!

A massive stadium right in the heart of Cardiff, which can been seen for miles around; the iconic ship's mast design is certainly eyecatching.

I have seen Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Stereophonics play here, and both times it's been a little bit of an odd experience. I'm used to acoustic performances and intimate gigs in marquees in the middle of muddy fields. I've also never been to a single sporting event in my whole entire life (no, wait, I went to a baseball game once in Philadelphia). So stepping into this space was a little bit of an agoraphobic-shock.

This place is massive and all made out of concrete. Even when it's full it seems empty. To me this is a major downfall and a half. Even the biggest bands have to be celestially-large to fill this space. I suddenly understand the term 'stadium-rock'. But the sound in there was pretty amazing, and unlike anything else I'd heard.

I have been so kind as to give four stars because my experience has not been with what the stadium was ever truly built for. I here the seats are all good and the leg-room is unsurpassed... Benefit of the doubt and all that.

Mind you, I bet it's prettier with grass inside...

The Millennium Stadium is an unmitigated success as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure that not everyone liked the look of the imposing modern structure that dominates such a large part of the city centre when it was first constructed, or the disruption that it caused when work was in progress, but I'm pretty sure that most people have been won over. Considering that the Millennium Dome was such a crashing disaster in London, The Millennium Stadium is definitely something that Cardiff can be proud of.

I love the look of the place, and don't mind that it is sited along a significant stretch of river. I had my doubts before the work was completed, but I think that it looks right at home where it is, and the concourse is impressive. I also love the fact that you can see sections of the structure at most points in the city. I really enjoy noticing the angular shapes towering above the skyline, even when I've made an escape into nature in Bute park, where the juxtaposition of modern architecture amid the trees is quite arresting.

Playing host to major concerts as well as sporting events, and home to a number of ancillary businesses, this multi-faceted building is a winner from every perspective.

The Millennium Stadium is an excellent venue for sports matches and Monster Truck events. The atmoshpere is second to none. Even if you are perched right up in the gods, on the very top tier, you feel like you're right in the thick of things.

I've been to watch five rugby matches in the stadium and (at peril of putting the kaibosh on the team) have never seen Wales loose here. Maybe that's why I love it so much!
I love the way it sits above the skyline of Cardiff like a giant spider and peers down onto the rest of the city and I love the fact that it's RIGHT in the heart of the capital so it's a real short step from the stadium to the pub. I love the fact that they'll serve you alcohol during the rugby but not the football (says a lot, that) and I love the mexican waves that go round and round and round the stadium during matches. When the crowd gets behind Wales and start to sing, it's electrifying (oh my god, I've just quoted John Travolta. Oh, the shame. Shhhh - don't tell anyone!).

It's not so hot as a music concert venue, in my humble opinion. If you're in the Gods watching someone on stage half a mile away, no amount of big screens are going to make you feel 'close' to the artist. Also, there's no real room to get up and boogie. I prefer the CIA as a music venue (well, I prefer Barfly or The Point or the Student's Union, but if we're talking on a big scale).

Still, it's a sports stadium first and foremost and for that it gets 5 out of 5.

Come on! It's got a retractable roof and everything!

Sporting venues simply do not get better than this.
Slap bang in the city centre, great atmosphere all around the ground with the hundreds of watering holes around the place.
Great atmosphere inside even when not a sell-out.
A day out here for a Wales home game is always a memorable experience.

Went there yesterday for the Wales V New Zealand rugby match and had a fantastic time, without a doubt the Millennium Stadium is the greatest stadium in the world!

The stadium is situated in Cardiff city centre only minutes away from the train station, bus terminal and Cardiff council even organise several park and rides, which makes travelling to games a lot easier.

When you get into the stadium everything is very organised with plenty of bars serving beer etc and there are also stalls selling soft drinks, hot food, sweets etc, prices are rather high but you expect that.

Finding your seat is easy because everything is well marked and there are loads of stewards around, only willing to help the lost and drunk!!

Our seats were at the very top of the stadium,we had an amazing view and could still see the action on the field, helped by two large screens.

Overall the Millennium stadium is the best because its well organised has great seating and an electric atmosphere.

The Millennium Stadium is everything a stadium should be. Located in the centre of town a short stroll from the station the whole City comes alive when it's a matchday. The atmosphere inside is immense, the stands are steep so you feel as if you are on top of the pitch and the retractable roof when closed serves to keep it all in especially when Wales score. The bars inside are efficient meaning that the half time rush isn't that bad.

As the stadium is located in the centre of town you are spoilt for choice for pre and post match drinks and entertainment something an equivalent venue in London lacks.

Just been there for the olympics football match, unsure if this mirrors other people experience. Found parking on some nearby street (try park at my streets, there are good parking offered by individuals, even the game makers use it), which is close enough. they blocked all roads near the stadium, which I love (hidden love: walking in the middle of road)
everything is orderly, plenty of eateries and bars around. Plus, you can a chance to walk pass some beautiful gardens and the castle if you arrive early
Ask me for any tips? don't use any of those official car parking booking, they are really expensive and far to walk to. Try do some search and I save myself £13 which is more than enough for my burger and kebab fix
