This mod spot has beautiful photos of great jazz musicians on the wall, a sleek ambience and an easy-going feel. My friend and I arrived for a Friday night reso at 7:30, but it wasn't all that crowded. I don't understand why. The music was low enough to have a conversation. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. So I'm thinking it hasn't been open that long OR it hasn't been YELPED!
We ordered a nice bottle of wine. I had the salmon and my friend had a steak. Both were cooked to perfection. The fish was just cooked through and still moist. The steak, well, disappeared pretty quickly so it must have been good! Sides of green beans and spinach were also done just right. Again, not overcooked and full of fresh flavor.
I hope to go back again and try some of their other entrees!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Goetz B.London, Storbritannien674341912 juli 2011Förste recensent
On the day I moved to the area I felt the need to walk around a bit and look for a nice restaurant to get something to eat. So I was walking down Abbey Road and after a few minutes I came across Poem Bar & Grill.
The restaurant looked nice and modern, the menu looked okay, so I popped in. It was already late and not too busy, but I instantly liked the restaurant. They have some modern paintings on the walls, played some music that matched the atmosphere of the restaurant and because they had a few doors open, it was warm with a nice and gentle breeze. In general the interior is modern and quite simple and clean.
The food and wine were delicious! I went for their set menu and chose the spicy lamb sausages as starter and chicken with frites, as they call it, as main course. Despite I am not a big fan of lamb, I really liked these sausages. The chicken was tasty an came with a well balanced sauce. I also got a huge bowl of these yummy thin frites.
Although I told the waiter when I ordered, that I don't know yet what dessert I want, I finally got the standard dessert. One standard dessert is included in the set menu, for the others you have to pay a bit more. Anyway, the dessert I got was very good, so I don't mind that I would have liked to choose something different. I guess I will go there some more times, so there are enough opportunities to try out other desserts...
I read that they also offer breakfast with Jazz sometimes - that sounds good and I can easily tell that this was my first, but for sure not my last visit to Poem Bar & Grill! :)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kristin D.Chicago, USA139216 juni 2013
Went for dinner tonight - Pizza Special- 9.99 for a pizza and draft beer! Pizza was great, thin crust and tasty. The special tuna entre was ok. Tuna was a bit dry and tasteless - but the spinach & chips were great - £12 for lots of food. Nice ambiance and reasonable. Walking distance to Marriott Maida Vale.

Nice corner location with wrap around patio great for sitting on a nice day having a coffee or glass of wine. Unfortunately, I wouldn't go here for the food. On this visit I had a couple "specials." For a starter I had half an avocado stuffed with small bay shrimp. While the avocado was ripe and tasty, it and the shrimp were smothered in way too much cocktail sauce (aka thousand island dressing). It really was difficult to enjoy anything but the sauce. Subtly is not the chef's specialty. For the main course I chose a pasta special. It was wide noodle pasta (tagliatelle) which was a little too al dente with a tomato sauce and with sausage (I think lamb) and porcini mushrooms of which there were maybe 4 small slices in the entire dish. Taste = bland. Really no spice, no herbs, no flavor. Parmesan cheese couldn't help. Limited wines by the glass; maybe 3 of red and white. Service was very friendly and attentive which could make Poem Bar and Restaurant 3-1/2 stars -- I just wish the food lived up to the great service which dropped my rating. I'd come back on a nice day just to sit outside with a coffee or glass of wine but if the rest of the food was like my meal then not for the food. Within 10 minute walking distance from Marriott Maida Vale in a neighborhood area with a view of Abbey Road.

This is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant with a good variety of food. Helpful staff. The fish was charcoal grilled and my wife and I loved the different flavors. Definitely worth visiting if you are in this area.
