Wanna look as cool as early Elvis or Carl Perkins?
Or as hot as Betty Page or Dita Von Tease?
Better get yo'self to Rockers then.

A rock and roll boutique halfway up Oldham Street, it has an old Ford bumper in the window and lots of cool and stylish clothes for teddy boys, psychobillies, 50s prom queens and burlesque ladies. As well as classic dresses, skirts, blouses and shirts in bold colours and funky fabrics, they sell belt-buckles, brothel creepers, shoes, jeans and rock and roll CDs.

Anyone hear that Rumble? That's just LinkWray on the stereo, baby.

This shop is well worth a visit if you're into 1950'd rockabilly clothing, it stocks brands such as lucky 13 and coop, liquor-brand, rocksteady and sailor Jerry all at really competitive prices, they also stock a good selection of alternative shoes and handbags.

So yes, if you are either teddy boys, rockers, psychobillys, punks, little emo kids, goths... this is the shop to find the unique threads that would otherwise only be found in the States, then head down here!

Opens Saturday 6th December, has a much better layout than the old shop and is in a more prominent position in the northern quarter, same great service and clothing!

It's impossible not to love Rockers. Every time I walk in there, I immediately feel as though I should back comb my hair and wrap myself in Leopardprint from head to toe to fit in!

In terms of Rockabilly shops, this one cannot be beaten. Indeed, I'd say that there aren't many like it in the North West of England (I'm pretty sure that it's the only Vivian of Holloway stockist in the area!) Even better, if you're a curvy girl like my good self, pretty much all of their beautiful and stylish clothing comes in very generous sizes, designed to suit any budget.

I'm also a bit of a fan of their jewellery range - particularly as a fair bit of it comes from one of my favourite stockists, Lady Luck Rules OK. Indeed, for a Bettie Page obsessive such as my good self, I couldn't think of anywhere I'd rather go to spend my hard earned cash on halter neck dresses and cherry shaped transfer tattoos.

So, if you're looking for something a bit different and unique, why not pop into Rockers? After just one visit, you'll be working the Elvis look before you know it!

I haven't been to Rockers for ages, but it's a wonderful place ! Run by one of the coolest ladies in Manchester, it sells rockabilly clothes and accessories by some of the most exciting alternative designers around, from British brands like Vivien of Holloway and Underground Shoes to cool US labels, like Stop Staring.

Packed with fifties frocks, creepers and beautiful bowling shirts, this really is rockabilly heaven. So if you like your skirts full and your hair high, you've got to pay them a visit!

Despite not dressing like a rockabilly/greaser, I can't help but love Rockers.

Rockers is one of those shops I find myself pressing my nose up against and wishing I had the sheer bloody nerve to get a quiff and some beetlecrushers.

The clothes stocked by the shop are all pretty great and the tunes played in there are always very good. The staff are incredibly friendly and always willing to give tips to anyone new to the scene.

Of course, some of the styles on offer will be too outlandish for the average punter, but for those wanting something completely different, this shop ticks all the boxes.

It really plays on the seedy side of rock 'n' roll (which of course, is the best side) and is one of those vanguard spirits that makes shopping in the Northern Quarter so great.

If you're a lady and want to dress like Bettie Page, then really, you cannot afford to ignore this shop.

You'll be dreaming of buying a hot-rod and getting covered in tattoos of flaming dice before you know it.

Finally finding a neat little location near the top of Oldham Street (after being shunted around a few Northern Quarter locations thanks to an untimely fire), Rockers is one of the most impressive retro shops in Manchester. Thanks to its dedicated rockabilly/psychobilly bent, it avoids having to cater to the wider retro audience. This leaves us with a shop that is able to go deeper into its niche than most of its rival retro boutiques.

The clothing lines range impressively from more traditionally 50s lines like Vivien of Holloway to more outlandish modern psychobilly gear for men and women. With accessories to kit you from head to toe, those dipping their toes into the scene are equally welcome in the shop to grab a hair flower or sailor-tattoo-print wallet.

The staff are friendly and welcoming, a rare asset for a shop which could be intimidatingly exclusive, and the music they choose every day completes the feeling that this little retro haven has transported you far from Manchester's rainy streets.

A great choice for gifts, fashion experimentalists and retro fiends alike - just be prepared to potentially fall head over heels for everything that's carefully crammed on every shelf.

This shop is a little of the beaten track but well worth the hunt if your'e into 1950'd rockabilly clothing.

The shop is fairly small but well stocks with rockabilly brands such as lucky 13 and coop.

They sell womens and mens clothing at competitive prices and also stock a good selection of alternative shoes and handbags.

The staff are always welcoming and will offer advice if you need any, particually if your'e new to this style of clothing.

Self-tagged as the 'Emporium of Rock & Roll Delight', a visit to Rockers may be just what you need if you are after the extremely rare in Rockabilly/Psychobilly/Punk gear. Complete with its own 50s diner, Rockers sells all the cutting-edge labels like Lucky 13, Route 66, Liquor Brand, Ace Jeans, Vivien of Holloway, Sourpuss, Vince Ray - with T-shirts by Monster, Felon and Gearhead. Underground shoes are the main footwear provider. It is probably the best shop on the scene in the UK. A couple of years ago, it was a cramped place, but it recently moved round the corner to a big space in city centre. If you like Afflecks, you will undoubtedly find something to love about Rockers. Be prepared to spend for this rare, high quality gear though - a lot of it is imported from the States.

Rockers is a great independent shop in the northern quarter, a bit tucked away in it's temporary shop on tarriff street due to fire damage at the old building on dale street. It's packed with great clothes and accessories from alternative labels from all over the world, lucky 13, liquorbrand, rocksteady, stop staring, vivienne of holloway, collectif, underground, sailor jerry, route 66 to name but a few. This shop is frequented by everyone in the rockin' community, you can get teddy boys, rockers, psychobillys, punks, little emo kids, goths- any everyone is always welcomed by Kathy the amazing shop owner.
