Kurtev's Backyard Grill and Bar

In town for a work meeting and we stopped here for lunch. I am giving 4 stars because our waitress was very friendly and provided great service for our large group. The food was good and the portions were generous.
I would have given 5 stars but we had a reservation because there were 11 of us and when we got there we had to wait for our tables. We also had to push the tables together ourselves so everyone could sit together, rather than trying to have 4 separate tables where people can't have conversations.

Parking lot packed, yet we were seated immediately, even with large gymnastic groups there / coming in to eat. Drinks brought rapidly, food was prompt and it all hit the spot.

I was in Fon du Lac with a large ladies bowling group (25-ish), and we decided to have a group dinner at the Backyard Grill & Bar. They were able to accommodate seating for us in about 30 mins, even though they were extremely busy. Their menu is huge and had something for everyone. We had an amazing waitress who handled us expertly, and the food came out quickly. They even separated our bills, which doesn't always happen for a group of that size.

The food was so delicious and the service was so great that a smaller group of us returned for lunch the next day before heading home. We had a different, but equally exceptional waitress and the food was amazing yet again. We'll definitely be returning the next time we're in the area!

The atmosphere and the place is awesome, with the bar area being the highlight. Greeted and seated right away, even with it being very busy. The menu is vast with options! For a bar & grill, it does have many options that are out of the ordinary so it makes me a bit nervous. Kicked it off with a Beefeater & tonic, refreshing. The cheese curds as an appetizer were very delicious. Decided to go with a burger for my main entree. Overall, pretty good.

This was a spectacular find on a recent trip to Fond du Lac. First off, you get a really cool bar atmosphere with a great "backyard" style patio. Next, you have a stellar beer list with plenty of local content.

From there, you get the treatment of daily rotating flavored butters (cinnamon apple on this occasion) with your roll. The curry soup (can't remember the full name) was fantastic. A bit brothy, but full of flavor.

For my entree, I made the hard decision (it's a great looking menu) of choosing the Backyard Bake. This was a whitefish and shrimp dish mixed with vegetables and served mixed together. The fish was extremely tender and had such a smooth flavor. The shrimp were a bit overcooked and dry, but still seasoned very well. All in all, this dish was a hit. Not quite a 5-star worthy dish, but definitely enough to maintain the 4-star rating given here.

Wonderful food, service, and ambiance!!! Their menu is so amazing. They have daily flavors of butter, along with their buns.

I have eaten there several times and had grt service and food each time, reasonably priced too, I like the ypscale casual decor and portions of food are just right, never leave hungry! Especially liked flavored butter for buns, and picked a new craft brew that hit the spot.

Confused as to why this place is so busy. Service was horrible, waitress blamed the owner. Food was just so so! Waited forever and they weren't busy. It was 2 pm? Received the bill and waited again. Asked the bartender if I could pay him and he said no! Big mistake and a waste of $36 I can't imagine what would have taken place if it was a busy lunch hour!

We stopped for lunch and found menu is large with a very good variety. The layout with all the nooks for dining, at least in the bar, was pleasant and kept the noise for such a large space in check. The bar height booths in the bar area were a nice addition. We prefer to dine in the bar but not at the bar, this was a much better setup than the standard bar height tables and chairs scattered around the room. My wife had the shrimp and asparagus quesadilla, which both of us agree was nice pairing, well prepared and presented, with good flavor. I had the shrimp plate, deep fried with seasoned fries. The shrimp seemed to be the standard Sysco breaded shrimp so they were okay but nothing to get excited about. The seasoned fries were excellent, not sure if they are made in house or premade but regardless they were really delicious. What really stood out was the service, the table to server ratio was excellent, the severs were very personable and responsive.

We will return, which is the best compliment.

Came for a quick lunch between hockey camp. Had a variety of food. Blackened chicken salad was great, kids chicken tenders obviously a win, chicken Alfredo was meh, tap beer was warm but service was great. Friend got nachos and wings- both looked very good. Decent bar food, wish beer was colder!
